One my biggest achievements while working with LCRA this summer as a parks assistant, was increasing my customer service and verbal communication skills.  This meant catering to park guests, asking users to pay a fee who did not want to comply, and managing park rules. I learned a lot about self control, and not to get emotional with park guests. I also mastered the Point of Sale system to reserve campsites, tents, cabins, cancel reservations, and perform day use park transactions. I learned how to think quickly on my feet and make independent decisions regarding park safety, and providing assistance to guests. I gained a very good financial understanding of how to prepare a balance sheet and how to count money efficiently and quickly. I was given a box of animal skins and tasked to give a presentation to campers on the weekend of July 4th. I researched each animal's natural habitat, unique characteristics and presented an hours worth to a large crowd. Lastly, I learned and memorized different maps of LCRA’s parks, layouts, different sites, day use fees for all parks, and nearby stores to better serve guests.
